The firm

Founded 16 May 2006,in Abuja.

Nottinghill Chambers is an established corporate and litigation consultancy, founded by James Kolawole Olowookere, SAN and Ade-Oye Michael Olorunsola. It is equipped with an up-to-date library and the information technology facilities that proper research requires, and it is organised so that the partner who takes an instruction is the partner who answers for it.

What sets the chambers apart is the framework it brings to a problem. Conventional legal services react — a difficulty occurs, and a firm is invited to address it. Our practice is to give qualitative advice early enough to avoid the legal quagmire altogether, and to have an answer ready for the situations a client can reasonably anticipate.

History

2006

The chambers is founded on 16 May by James Kolawole Olowookere, SAN and Ade-Oye Michael Olorunsola, as a corporate and litigation consultancy in Abuja.

2007

Henry Nwankwo Okechukwu joins, and the civil advocacy and information technology practices begin to take their present shape. Samuel Ogunleye leaves S.S. Obende & Co., where he had been head of chambers, and comes across with the recovery practice.

2010

Moses Adekpe Awuru, Ataima Edo and Samuel Adebayo Ajayi are called to the Nigerian Bar; the first two join the chambers the following year.

2012

Charles Awunor is called and joins in the same year, opening the chambers' sports law and media desk.

Today

Nine counsel and consultants across thirteen practice areas, instructed by federal institutions and private companies, from the principal office at Apo Legislative Quarters, Abuja.

Principles

I

Anticipate, do not react

Conventional practice waits for the problem. We give qualitative advice early enough to keep a foreseeable situation out of court altogether.

II

One partner, one file

The partner who takes your instruction answers for it until it ends. Work is delegated; accountability is not.

III

Research before argument

The chambers keeps an up-to-date library and the information technology facilities to use it. Positions are established before they are advanced.

IV

Versatility on purpose

Counsel here practise across several areas because matters do not respect practice boundaries — an acquisition becomes a title problem, an estate becomes a suit.
