Counsel — Litigation and advocacy
You will sit with the partners on contested civil, criminal and election matters, and you will be in court in your first term. This is a drafting-heavy seat: pleadings, affidavits and written addresses, reviewed line by line by a partner who expects the second draft to be better than the first.
What you will do
- Draft pleadings, affidavits and written addresses under partner supervision.
- Appear on interlocutory applications and hold briefs at trial.
- Run the documentary record on two or three heavy files at a time.
Requirements
Two to five years post-call. Strong written English. Evidence that you can hold a brief on your feet.
